Triumph launches new sports bras exclusively at LessBounce

UK sports bra specialist LessBounce is full of beans, having announced the exclusive launch of two new sports bras and re-launch of two old sports bra favourites from Triaction, by Triumph.

The new bras are the Hybrid Star (pictured) available from 32-40 B-F, in white or grey with pink time at £40 and the High Performer available from 34-42 B-E, in black or white at £35.

In addition, the exclusive range launch at LessBounce includes two Triumph styles which have not been available in the UK for several years: the Triumph Powermove (a pretty, underwired, racer back sports bra with light padding) and the Triumph Fitness (a lightweight, front fastening sports bra).

Department store debenhamsurl has launched a new T-shirt bra that weighs just 48g, which it says makes it a great everyday bra. It’s a weight off my mind – but joking apart it sounds like a really good idea during the steamy days we have been experiencing recently. Sure enough a regular T-shirt bra might only weigh 10g less, but a gel push-up bra could weigh in at more than 200g.

Debenhams Head of Lingerie Buying and Design, Sharon Webb commented:

Many women find that the search for a bra that fits, flatters, is comfortable and functional
is as hard as finding the right man!

Our research showed that many traditional t-shirt bras were quite heavy due to their dense foam structure, which is required to give an invisible fit.

To put it to the test, Debs put the bra to the test and over 90% of women in the trials agreed that the bra felt like a second skin.

We’ve all heard about large bumpy bits and poorly fitted bras can cause back pain, but back specialist Dr David W. Evans says bra weight may also make a difference:

A properly fitted, well designed bra, made of light materials that do not restrict movement, is likely to help women stay active, which is the best way to recover from
back pain.

What to look for in a good sports bra

Are you keeping fit in the new year? Forget resolutions, forget excuses – what you need is a good sports bra and we’re here to help you find one!

As well as avoiding the obvious inconvenience of jiggling there is sound medical evidence that women should protect their breasts during excersize. The breasts are supported by the Coopers ligaments which stretch when you exercise. If these ligaments are over-worked it can cause sagging – and once this happens, they will never recover!

All is not lost though. A good sports bra can cut breast movement by over 50 per cent – for example a Shock Absorber running bra tested by experts at Portsmouth University was proven to reduce bounce by 78%. According the The Bra Book the first sports bra was invented in 1977 when Hinda Miller, Lisa Lindahl and Polly Smith sewed two jockstraps together and called it the Jogbra (I hope they washed them first).

Look for cushioned fastenings to stop the bra chafing or scratching against your skin, while moisture-wicking fabrics such as those used by the Breeze Comfort bra help keep you cool. Good sports bras can provide comfortable support for large and small busoms with wide non-stretch straps.

Sports bra checklist

  • Look for a sports bra with seperate cups with plenty of support – not to mention a more natural look.
  • Choose a bra with thick supporting straps that won’t chafe or cut in with movement.
  • Pay the extra for a breathable fabric. Moisture wicking fabrics make for a comfortable workout.
