It seems competitions are the only thing worth writing about right now. In fact Bra Selector's homepage is beginning to look like an ITV TV schedule. However, it is with good reason that we're covering the
Triumph Inspiration Award in the UK - time for some uber-fashion lingerie ideas.
Just last week on the 10th June at a dazzling catwalk show hosted by style guru
Nicky Hambleton-Jones, supported by a live set by model
DJ Ben Grimes, Isabella Newell from Central Saint Martins
was named the winner of the UK National Finals of the Triumph Inspiration Award 2010 with her design Circus Freaks.
Aisling Farrell of Central Saint Martins took second place with Sacred Geometry and
Kate Burreddu of De Montfort University came in third place with her design Podtastic.
For the third consecutive year, the Triumph Inspiration Award contest saw 20 fashion student finalists, 10 from
Central Saint Martins in London and 10 from De Monfort University in Leicester presenting their unique lingerie showpieces inspired by the design motto "Shape Sensation".
For Louise Redknapp, the face of Triumph UK, leading stylist
Charlie Anderson, German design duo
Felder & Felder and Triumph UK’s Product Manager Jane Fenlon-Smith, deciding the UK’s winner was an unenviable task. Judges were asked to score the designs based on strict criteria including innovation and creativity, individuality, concept, aesthetic, quality, presentation and show effect.
The UK winner Isabella Newell not only received a generous £2,000 in prize money but will go forward to represent the UK head to head with 26 other international finalists at the global Triumph Inspiration Award 2010 finals. The glittering climax to the TIA 2010 will be held in London in the run up to London Fashion Week on 16th September and all 27 countries will present their inspirational designs to an internationally renowned jury (names to be announced). Unfortunately Bra Selector was unable to attend the event, but you can read more on Fashion blog
StyleInn.
The overall winner of the global TIA will not only win a prize fund of Euros 15,000 with the 2nd and 3rd places winning Euros 10,000 and Euros 5,000 respectively but also the opportunity to work alongside Triumph’s design team in Hong Kong to turn their winning showpiece into a commercial garment to be sold as a limited edition piece in Triumph’s stores and selected outlets worldwide from September 2011.
Last year's overall winner of the Triumph Inspiration Award, the UK’s James Nolan’s winning lingerie set will be available in Triumph stores and selected outlets from September 2010. Voting for the global finals will open online from 1st August 2010.
