Enamore ethical and enamore eccentric

Unique: “Peek a Boo”

Last week BraSelector caught up with Jenny Ambrose,
boss of Enamore, the fashion label leading “ethical trading” in the UK. So what’s it all about?

Enamore is a designer and manufacturer of fashionable and original ladies’ clothing, lingerie and accessories. There are and exclusive collections comprise natural and organic fibres, such as hemp, cotton, silk and wool, and recycled vintage materials.

Jenny has loved fashion and materials for many years and left fashion college to make her own designs and clothing using hemp and vintage fabrics in her works. After a great deal of hard graft and, at times, “quite miserable” living conditions Enamore was born and – we think you should all take a look.

Who said all the shops are the same these days? Enamore designs its own lingerie (amongst other clothing) and is more than just another “brand”. You can find its clothes in exclusive boutiques and online at www.enamore.co.uk. Now, time for some questions. What are your thoughts on “ethical trading”?

I think if you can’t trade ethically, then you shouldn’t be trading at all.

“I still have a long way to go but I have become a lot more patient over the last 2 years. The ethos behind Enamore has always been to keep growing and to make a difference to the way consumers look at the products they buy, and to set an example by purchasing environmentally sound materials and using ethical labour.”

What differentiates Enamore from other lingerie brands?

We produce gorgeous lingerie from the finest organic fabrics including hemp, cotton and silk. Hemp is a natural organic plant with high eco-friendly properties due to it’s ability to grow with little water and flourish with no pesticides. Our organic peace silk is certified by the ‘Silk Federation of France’ and we also use 100% organic cotton certified by ‘SKAL’. It’s important to us that we use only materials that are sustainable and have a positive impact on our environment and the people involved in the production/supply chain.

From humble beginnings…
Jenny’s entrepreneurial interest was sparked shortly after finishing her college course in fashion and textile design. The fashion industry is difficult to break into, and the college course only offered a one year programme, making it even more difficult for Jenny. Notoriously fickle and cruel, the fashion industry was too intimidating for Jenny to jump into straight away.

Why would you say your (lingerie) customers come to you?
Our customers are looking for the best in ethical lifestyle products but don’t want to compromise on style or design. We have a lot of male customers buying gifts for it’s partners and are so excited to find an eco-friendly alternative to all the polyester fabrics out there!

Thank you very much Jenny Ambrose, Enamore
