Vote for your Star in a Bra 2012

Curvy Kate bra

This year’s Star in a Bra has been more popular than ever, with more than a 1,000 girls competing to become Curvy Kate’s next “real world” curvy champion and model. Last year’s winner, the wonderful Lizzie Haines talks to the top 10.

This year’s girls come from all over the UK and Ireland with 32K Alex from Epsom Downs, girls from the North and South, Scotland – and even the simply stunning Sophie from Guernsey who seems to have really enjoyed the new experience of modelling shoots.

Once again there are girls from all walks of life: students, HR managers – not to mention actresses and thespians! On that topic – yes it’s Jesse (not Jessie) James from Bournemouth and her only weapon is eyelash curlers.

Every year, girls find that they are incorrectly measured. This year it’s Hattie who has a shock, so listen up and get measured at your local bra shop! Curvy Kate bras are stylish, available in D-K cups and considered very comfortable by every big bra shopper I have spoken with.

Now it’s time to vote for your favourite girl on Facebook – who do you think is the best choice to represent curvy women and become Star in a Bra 2012?

Bra Wash Ball

Fed up of bras getting worn out in the wash? Well, if a delicates bag doesn’t do it for you a Welsh inventor has the answer – the Bra Angel Wash Ball. Yep – it’s a big ball to that protects your precious bras in the unforgiving rough and tumble of your washing machine!

Bra Wash Ball

Christmas Bra Baubles

We thought it might make a good stocking filler (ironically) or a practical Secret Santa for lingerie loving colleagues!

Welsh company The Bra Angel received its 9th award for innovation at this year’s Annual British Innovation & Technology Show with The Ball. It is designed to protect lingerie in the washing machine and has been hailed a big success. The product recently featured on ITV’s daybreak, which apparently pushed sales into the hundreds within minutes, leaving the website. [ed. Keep your eye on the ball!]

So how does it work? The Bra Angel Bra Wash Ball encases the bra within its shell, which not only protects it from being squashed in the machine but also helps the bra to retain its shape and its life. It also prevents the underwire coming out of the bra and damaging the machine, which is a common problem for bra and washing machine manufactures alike.

The Bra Angel was founded 4 years ago with just one product (the bra angel underwire bra repair kit) and through the recession has continued to expand and grow. The company believes that in these tough times people are looking at ways to save money in any way they can, and lingerie can be expensive (and upsetting) to replace when it’s damaged.

The Bra Angel Bra Wash Ball is available through the company website www.thebraangel.co.uk for £14.99 ex delivery.

We’d love to hear from anyone who has used one of these!

Panache sports bra offers both support and curves

Panache Sports bra for D-H cups women

Lingerie brand Panache has designed a fab sports bra, specifically for women with bigger boobs. The new sports bra from Panache Sport has received extensive media exposure this week with features in The Sun, Daily Express and Health & Fitness Magazine.

Panache Sports bra for D-H cups women

Panache Sport say the new Ultimate Sports Bra reduces bounce by up to 83 per cent for D to H cups thanks to sag-fighting technology that includes wide, padded straps to disperse pressure on the shoulders and underwires wrapped in silicone and sewn into the fabric for comfort.

Unlike some sports bras, it doesn’t squash your boobs against your chest so girls can workout confident in their curvy silhouette – rather than sporting a bulging “monoboob”.

The sports bra is now in stock at LessBounce in black and white in sizes 28DD-H; 30-38D-H; 40D-GG, priced £35 but apparently worth every penny – of course we’d love to hear your feedback – this is a democratic and open blog! You’ll have to wait for the grey, and limited edition purple bras though – these are are avaialble on pre-order from the sports bra soecialist and due in stock early November.

We have many other exciting product launches in the next few months ahead of London 2012 and hope that the games will inspire millions of women to start or increase the fitness activities.”

Debenhams Launches “lightest ever bra”

Light as air bra

Department store Debenhams has launched a new T-shirt bra that weighs just 48g, which it says makes it a great everyday bra. It’s a weight off my mind – but joking apart it sounds like a really good idea during the steamy days we have been experiencing recently. Sure enough a regular T-shirt bra might only weigh 10g less, but a gel push-up bra could weigh in at more than 200g.

Debenhams Head of Lingerie Buying and Design, Sharon Webb commented:

Many women find that the search for a bra that fits, flatters, is comfortable and functional
is as hard as finding the right man!

Our research showed that many traditional t-shirt bras were quite heavy due to their dense foam structure, which is required to give an invisible fit.

To put it to the test, Debs put the bra to the test and over 90% of women in the trials agreed that the bra felt like a second skin.

We’ve all heard about large bumpy bits and poorly fitted bras can cause back pain, but back specialist Dr David W. Evans says bra weight may also make a difference:

A properly fitted, well designed bra, made of light materials that do not restrict movement, is likely to help women stay active, which is the best way to recover from
back pain.

Light as air bra

Light as air bra

The light as air t-shirt bra has no bulk, and moulds to the body, feeling noticeably lighter than any other bra.
The t-shirt bra is designed to be seam-free under clothes, it has bonded straps and bagged out wings for a luxury finish and added comfort.

Always looking for ways to make women feel more comfortable and confident, the team at Debenhams developed the bra to give a barely-there feel, whilst the light weight foam cup gives a smooth and round shape.
